Daryl Lawes is the Environment Manager at Seaspan ULC. Daryl has over 20 years’ experience in environmental management, sustainability planning, risk assessment and community engagement. Daryl has a BSc from Royal Roads University and Environmental Technology diploma from Camosun College programs. Working as an Environmental Specialist for the Federal Government for the over 15 years, Daryl managed progressively complex projects and programs associated with marine transportation, military operations, and commercial and industrial property management.
As Seaspan’s Environment Manager, Daryl is responsible for all aspects of Seaspan environmental management and sustainability programs, strategies, policies, practices and systems throughout the operations of its three large shipyards, tug and barge fleet, commercial ferries, oil transportation and vessel bunkering services. Daryl’s key responsibilities include oversight and implementation of the ISO 14001 EMS and Green Marine Certifications, regulatory compliance assurance, environmental emergency response, and for driving environmental performance and integrating of sustainability into operations and strategic planning processes.
