2015 EMA Awards Summary

The EMA of BC’s 2015 AGM & Awards Gala were held at the beautiful Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.  What a fantastic evening full of great people, delicious food, jazz music and awards! The evening kicked off with the AGM where the EMA of BC welcomed several new board members.  After the AGM attendees enjoyed a lovely sit down meal which was accompanied with wine sponsored from NEXT Environmental, and followed by a delicious dessert buffet.  Then the final event of the evening, the awards ceremony! The Award finalists for each of the three categories presented their projects to the attendees and representatives from the evenings sponsors – Stormtec Filtration Inc., Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, and Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP – announced the winners and handed out shiny trophies.  Photos are here!

This year the EMA of BC introduced a new award category to recognize an “Emerging Environmental Professional”. The inaugural recipient of this award was Deneige McIntyre from Stantec.

Last but not the least, the President’s Award was presented by EMA of BC President Carlos da Ponte to Christianne Wilhelmson, Executive Director from the Georgia Strait Alliance for their Clean Marine BC Program.

The evening continued with networking and wonderful music from the jazz trio – Swing-2-Beat.

Everyone would agree that this event is one to mark in your calendar for 2016!  Start considering the projects your organization could submit in 2016 for the categories of Regulatory Challenge, Emissions/Discharge Control and Remediation and Restoration.
