Strategies for a Low Carbon Future
The City of Vancouver has set aggressive targets to be the Greenest City in the world by 2020. The advancement of low carbon district energy is an important element to achieving our GHG reduction targets and Greenest City Action Goals. This presentation will provide an overview of the various policies supporting the investigation, implementation and growth of district energy across the City. The successes from the City-owned False Creek Neighbourhood Energy Utility as well as the advancement of new low carbon district heating systems in high density and high heat load areas will be discussed. How the City is moving forward with the development of a more comprehensive, pro-active City-Wide strategy for district energy implementation will also be highlighted.
