The EMA of BC was thrilled to host our Annual Awards Gala at the Terminal City Club on June 13, 2024. We had a remarkable number of nominees submit their projects for consideration this year. We would like to thank everyone who attended and was nominated for their participation!
The celebratory evening began with a champagne reception sponsored by Milestone Environmental Contracting. The gala proceedings kicked off with opening remarks from EMA of BC VP of Marketing, Andrea Rivers, a welcome address from EMA of BC Executive Director, Pamela O, and the president’s address from EMA of BC President, Bryan Shaw. The president’s address recognized the incoming 2024 EMA of BC Board of Directors, and the elite Judging Panel. The Head Judge, Oana Enick (BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy), then introduced the esteemed panel of judges including: Bob Symington (Gandalf Consulting), Dino Rossi (BLG), and Don Bryant (DLB Consulting). The 2023 Awards Gala Recap was presented by the event’s Gold Sponsor, Summit Earthworks. Attendees enjoyed smooth live jazz performed by the Diane Lines Duo, sponsored by AGAT Laboratories and Hatfield Consultants. Additional thanks to BLG for sponsoring the evening’s AV equipment.
The attendees enjoyed a plated 3-course meal with wine, sponsored by, SLR Consulting and Envirogreen Technologies Ltd, while the finalists of the Environmental Assessment, Technological Innovation, and Organizational Environmental Programs Awards gave short project presentations preceding the award presentations in each category by the Silver Sponsors.
ERIS presented Dillon Consulting with the Technological Innovation Award for their project ”Salmon Habitat Restoration Program – Flexi-baffle Installation.” Bureau Veritas presented Vancouver Fraser Port Authority the Environmental Assessment Award for their project “Roberts Bank Terminal 2.” QM Environmental presented Seaspan the Organizational Environmental Programs for their project “Electric Shuttle Buses – Journey to Zero Emissions.”
While enjoying the desert buffet sponsored by Dillon Consulting, the attendees read through the poster displays of the nominees and casted their votes for the 2024 Members’ Choice Award.
Bryan Shaw, on behalf of the EMA of BC Board of Directors, presented the Emerging Environmental Professional Award to Farhan Bhanji of Active Earth Engineering. The final award of the night, Members’ Choice Award, was presented by Silver Sponsor Lawson Lundell LLP to Hatfield Consultants for their project “English Bay Barge Project.” Congratulations to all the winners!
