Legislation Update
This presentation will cover:
* recent amendments to Canada’s Impact Assessment Act (IAA) following the Supreme Court of Canada’s 2023 decision that the IAA’s designated projects scheme went beyond federal jurisdiction (this follows up on last year’s update),
* amendments to the provincial Environmental Management Act related to decommissioning and closure planning, and BC’s proposed public interest bonding strategy,
* the Administrative Monetary Penalty regime under BC’s Water Sustainability Act, and
* further legislative developments anticipated in 2025.
