Celebrating Environmental Excellence at the 2025 EMA of BC Awards Gala!
The Environmental Managers’ Association of British Columbia (EMA of BC) hosted another remarkable awards ceremony, honoring the most innovative and impactful projects driving environmental stewardship across our province.
The celebratory evening began with a champagne reception sponsored by Milestone Environmental Contracting. The gala proceedings began with opening remarks from EMA of BC VP of Marketing, Katrina Kalashnikova, an inspiring welcome address from EMA of BC Executive Director, Pamela O, and the president’s address from EMA of BC President, Bryan Shaw. The president’s address recognized the incoming 2025 EMA of BC Board of Directors, and the esteemed panel of judges including Oana Enick (BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy), Bob Symington (Gandalf Consulting), Dino Rossi (BLG), and Don Bryant (DLB Consulting).

Attendees enjoyed smooth live jazz performed by the Diane Lines Duo, sponsored by Envirogreen Technologies Ltd. Additional thanks to ESDAT for sponsoring the evening’s AV equipment.
The attendees enjoyed a plated 3-course meal with wine, sponsored by SLR Consulting while the finalists of the Emissions & Discharge Control, Regulatory Challenge, and Remediation & Restoration Awards gave short project presentations preceding the award presentations in each category by the Silver Sponsors.
It was an evening filled with inspiration as we celebrated the deserving winners in each category:
* Emissions & Discharge Control: Progressive Planet Solutions, sponsored by Summit Earthworks, for their game-changing PozGlass™ technology, a low-carbon cementitious material derived from post-consumer glass.
* Regulatory Challenge: Keystone Environmental, sponsored by Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, for their exceptional work navigating complex regulatory frameworks to enable sustainable redevelopment of the Beachlands site in Colwood.
* Remediation & Restoration: Ducks Unlimited Canada, sponsored by AGAT Laboratories, for their pioneering Sturgeon Bank Sediment Enhancement Pilot Project, which is restoring critical tidal marsh habitat.
* Emerging Environmental Professional: Alison Cranwill with SLR , sponsored by ERIS.
* Indigenous Project Award: River Tlingit First Nation in partnership with SLR Consulting sponsored by Lawson Lundell LLP
The evening also featured the highly anticipated Members’ Choice Award, which was presented to the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, sponsored by Hatfield Consulting, for their collaborative Southern Resident Killer Whale Conservation Agreement.

While enjoying the dessert buffet sponsored by Dillon Consulting, attendees viewed the poster displays of all the nominees and cast their votes for the Members’ Choice Award. We would like to thank all of our finalists for their incredible work: Stantec, SLR Consulting, PGL Environmental Consultants, Alpha-El in partnership with BMC Minerals.
Throughout the gala, we were inspired by the passion and dedication of our environmental champions. Their projects not only set new standards for environmental accountability, but also paved the way for a greener future.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! Your work is truly transformative, and we’re honored to celebrate your successes. Thank you to our sponsors, judges, nominees, and all who attended to support this year’s EMA of BC Environmental Awards.
We look forward to seeing what the next year will bring as we continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for environmental protection and innovation.
