Winners of the 2021 EMA of BC Environmental Awards

The EMA of BC was thrilled to host the 9th Annual Environmental Managers Association Awards Gala online on Nov 18th, 2021. We had a remarkable number of nominees submit their projects for consideration this year. We would like to thank them all for their participation!

The Online Gala began with a welcome address from EMA of BC President, Bryan Shaw, recognizing the 2021 EMA of BC Board of Directors, and the Elite Judging panel. Head judge Robert Symington introduced the judges and explained the judging process. The judges: Robert Symington, Oana Enick and Don Bryant introduced the categories and announced the winners for each category.

We’d like to extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to our 2021 EMA of BC Award Winners! We had some fantastic submissions this year, and enjoyed hearing from our finalists about their innovative projects at our Gala event! Award Winners are as follows:

Discharge Control: City of Richmond for their project, “Mitchell Island Environmental Stewardship Initiatives

Regulatory Challenge: City of Richmond for their project, “Corporate Hazardous Materials Management Training (Integrating TDG, WHMIS, and Hazardous Waste Regulation)

Remediation and Restoration: Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, for their project, “Maplewood Marine Restoration Project“.

Emerging Professional Award: Petra Stastny at Advisian.
