Membership Benefits
The EMA of BC assists businesses conducting environmental work to effectively anticipate and respond to environmental issues. We achieve this by creating a forum for education and information sharing relating to existing and emerging environmental issues.
Membership with the EMA is unique in that it grants every employee in your organization access to valuable education and networking benefits. Eligible employees who attend EMA of BC events as a speaker, audience member, or who serve on our board, also qualify for professional development (PD) credits with APEGBC, CSAP, The Law Society of BC and other similar professional organizations. This can result in considerable cost savings for an organization, given that your annual membership entitles all employees in your organization to these professionally mandated and otherwise costly credits.
Educational Benefits:
The EMA hosts monthly speaker sessions, newsletters, and web posts to keep you and your team current on environmental issues facing businesses in BC. Our monthly meetings feature guest speakers, and are designed to be interactive so members can engage in meaningful and relevant discourse. Examples of topics covered in recent monthly sessions include:
- Regulatory/Legal Up-dates;
- Environmental Assessment Advances and Challenges;
- Working In and Around Water;
- Corporate Social Responsibility;
- Environmental Auditing;
- Risk Control and Environmental Insurance;
- Hazardous Waste Management;
- Energy Conservation and Management; and
- What To Do If You Are Charged with an Offence Under the Waste Management Act.
Once a year we also take our monthly sessions on the road. Tours have included the Heidelberg Cement Plant, the Vancouver International Airport (airside), Lafarge Cement Richmond Plant, Coastal Ocean Research Institute, and Seaspan Shipyards.
Networking Benefits:
EMA membership provides an avenue for every employee in your firm to expand their professional network and gain access to the expertise they need to help solve your most pressing environmental challenges. Through our in-person speaker sessions, site tours and networking events, members can share key insights and practical tips relating to environmental issues, including successes, lessons learned and of course great stories, in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Annual networking sessions include:
- The EMA of BC Members-Only Golf Tournament;
- The EMA of BC Awards Gala;
- The Emerging Young Professionals Social.
Other Membership Benefits:
