This was the first year the EMA of BC held the Poster Competition and it was a success! Twelve submissions were received from students across BC. Those 12 submissions were reviewed by 6 judges consisting of 5 EMA Board members and one representative of Royal Roads University (sponsor of the Poster Competition). The top eight abstracts were invited to attend the Workshop to display their poster and compete for one of three $500 prizes for top posters. Unfortunately one group had to decline participation a few weeks before the event.
Five judges evaluated the posters based on quality and appeal, organization, required components, originality and the interview. The top three posters were:
- Dylan Denault, Marlon Figueroa, Kevin Johnstone, Kristina Moseley and Erin Vandal, BCIT: Community-Based Social Marketing Strategy to Boost Zero Waste Culture at BCIT
- Curtis Jung, Kimberly Gulevich, Soledad Ronco and Nathaniel Saindon, UNBC: Native Plants Nursery Biomass Heating Conversion Project
- Haley Milko, SFU: Changing Resource Monitoring and Stewardship Training Opportunities for First Nations Youth
